Darlington Throwbacks

Rick Ware Racing will once again make their way to Darlington, SC for one of the most exciting race weekends of the year, The Southern 500.  RWR has 3 teams entered and everyone at RWR is looking forward to taking our 3 throwback schemes, which Darlington is famous for.

First is the Jacob Companies "Stroker Ace" #51 which is being driven by BJ McLeod. This car is a throwback to the 1983 "Chicken Pit" car made famous in the movie Stroker Ace and starring Burt Reynolds.   Second is the Jacob Companies "Bill Blair" #52.  This car is a throwback to the 1953 Oldsmobile that High Point, NC's Bill Blair ran and won in the 1953 Daytona race which was run on the beach and A1A at Daytona Beach, Fla.  The third entry is a throwback to Lennie Pond's 1973 Pepsi car that he ran at Daytona.  The #54 car is sponsored by

It Was Bristol Baby!!

RWR took 4 cars to Bristol for last Saturday nights Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race.  JJ Yeley was RWR's top finisher in 28th driving the PODS Moving and Storage #54.  Kyle Weatherman was next in the Belmont Classic Cars #52 coming in 31st.  BJ McLeod, driving the #51 Pinnacle Sports and Entertainment Chevy experienced a broken right suspension and finished in 32nd place and Josh Bilicki, finished 35th driving the #53 succombed to dangerous amounts of CO2 after a hose broke on his cooling unit.

It was a great weekend with our sponsors as Nine Line apparel presented the Gold Star Families of Carteret County with a check for over $5,000 to put towards their monument building fund.  Other RWR sponsors, Jacob Companies and PODS also pledged $5.40 per every lap the #54 PODS Mustang ran, which ended up being 485 laps which was $2,619 from each sponsor to go towards the monument fund.  RWR is very proud of our sponsors and how they all work together on projects such as this.

Next up for RWR and the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is the throwback race in the Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington on Sunday, September 1st at 6 PM.  We will reveal the paint schemes for the throwback race later this week, so be sure to check back with us!

Belmont Classic Cars returns to Rick Ware Racing at Bristol

Belmont Classic Cars returns to Rick Ware Racing, at Bristol Motor Speedway, in a special military tribute. The No. 52 Chevrolet will pay tribute to fallen hero, SGT James Slape.

SGT Slape, a Morehead City, NC native, was assigned to the NC Army National Guard’s 60th Troop Command, 430th Explosive Ordinance Company, based in Washington, NC. On October 4, 2018, SGT Slape paid the ultimate sacrifice after being wounded by an IED in the Helmand Province in Afghanistan. SGT Slape was honored on the No. 52 RWR Chevrolet in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Memorial Day weekend.

In addition to running a special paint scheme, Belmont Classic Cars and Nine Line Apparel have teamed up together to create a limited-edition t-shirt to raise money for the Gold Star Families Monument in Carteret County, honoring those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in war, and their families. Starting August 29th, for every purchase, a portion of the proceeds being donated back to the monument.

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to carry SGT Slape’s name on my No. 52 Chevrolet at Bristol Motor Speedway,” commented Bayley Currey. “Andy and Dana from Belmont Classic Cars approached the team about wanting to honor SGT Slape at another race after having our night end early in Charlotte, and I can’t think of a better way to honor his sacrifices, than to help raise money for the Gold Star Families Monument in Carteret County.”

“We are honored and fortunate to be able to support this great cause. NASCAR and its fans are very supportive of the military community and we couldn’t think of a better way to honor the sacrifices that SGT Slape made for our country,” said Belmont Classic Cars owner, Andy Mistak.

As an added bonus for NASCAR fans, Belmont Classic Cars is giving away a VIP experience for two, for any new or existent followers on Instagram. For additional information on Belmont Classic Cars, visit
