Kittleson strong in 27th at ORP

July 25th, 2009

orpTravis Kittleson again showed his short track ability this weekend at O”Reilly Raceway Park in the Circle K Polar Pop Chevy. Kittleson qualified the 31 in the twenty-ninth position and hit trouble in the early laps of the event.

“It was pretty crazy there at the begining. I got stuck in the middle of a three-wide jumble in turn one and got pinched on both sides.”

The “pinch” caused fender damage on both sides that the crew worked feverishly to fix. By lap 20 the car was back to normal and drove from 43rd to mid pack by lap 100. A long green flag run fighting in traffic bounced the Florida native back to the 32nd place position with less than 50 laps to go.

The crew put on four new Goodyear tires and sent Kittleson on a mission. Travis responded, scoring the 3rd fastest car of the evening at that point as he moved the Polar Pop/Bob Steele Chevy into a 27th place finish.

“Overall it was a good night. We learned alot about this car and we feel pretty good about the direction we are heading in!”

“We took some time at the practice track to work on a shock package that seems to fit my riding style. I think we found it.”

Bright will now trek across country to Washington for the next event and his first top 10 of the season. “We have come along way this season and we are not far from the championship contenders right now. A good start and consistent racing will get us there.”
