February 15th, 2010

121949666.A4BGDYGK.20100210pc2296_655Chrissy Wallace was as happy as any driver at Daytona when she found out she was going to start at Daytona for her Nationwide Series debut. Those moments of happiness ended very sudden.

Wallace, driving the #41 Fuel Doctor-Susan G Komen Chevy started the race in the 38th position and was ready to log laps at the tail of the field due to the lack of draft time during the weekend.

“We just wanted to drop to the back, get a feel for the car and make a day of working on it to make the car and myself more competitive as the race went on. Well that didnt happen that way.”

Coming off of turn four on lap number one, Wallace’s car received a little tap that sent her into the outside wall at 180mph.

“We didn’t even get a chance. Its a shame because I know we could have ran in the top 20, we were just being patient. Too bad, it was the same for all but hey, we will be back!”

Stanton invloved in hard crash at Daytona in season opener

February 15th, 2010

stantonStanton Barrett saw the promise of a great beginning of a 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series close right before his eyes. After making the field on a rain canceled qualifying draw, Barrett made quick work of his competitors from the 43rd position.

In just five laps, Barrett was settled into the 25th position and make fine adjustments to his #31 Fuel Doctor Chevy.

“The car feels pretty good considering we didn’t get to draft, but we will wait our turn to get to the front,” Stanton claimed to his crew.

At the halfway mark of the race, a big crash involving twelve cars occurred in front of the 31. As Stanton approached the wreckage, a area between the #61 of Josh Wise and #6 of Ricky Stenhouse opened and the Bishop, California native went for it.

Just as the 31 got half way through the hole, it closed abruptly and sandwiched the car, throwing it airborne into the infield grass.

As the dust cleared, it was obvious that the day was over for Stanton and the Fuel Doctor team as the car had to be towed back to the garage on a wrecker.

“This is one of those racing deals we all hate, but our team is determined to rebound. We look forward to running at Las Vegas in a few weeks and hopefully bounce back to a Top 15 finish like we know we can run.”

Gibson finishes 2nd in opening night defense of AX title

January 8th, 2010

Grand Rapids, MI

Jeff Gibson stood out in the crowd of competitors Friday night at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids for many reasons.  First off he is boasting the #1 National Champion number on his back and bike, drawing a perfect bullseye for his competition.  Perhaps even more noticing was Gibson was the lone rider deciding to ride the Honda 250 while the entire field rode the new improved 450cc bikes.

“Right now, I feel stronger on it and until me or my team sees a reason to change, I will be on the 250″, claimed the Champ.

Gibson’s teammate, Brock Sellards started the night off for RWR/Tuf in the first heat and finished 2nd to former RWR Motocross rider Tyler Bright moving him into the Main event.  Gibson competed in Heat #2 and also finished 2nd and ironically to former RWR/Tuf teammate Josh Demuth moving him into the Main as well

During the main, Brock grabbed the “Hole Shot” with Gibson on his tail for the first lap.  By lap 3 Gibson took the point as Brock slipped back to 4th.  Jeff Gibson powered his FuelDoctorUSA.com bike in the lead for 23 laps as Chad Johnson, another former RWR rider and Champion closed in on him.  On lap 24 of the 25 lap feature, Johnson passed Gibson and went on for the win as Gibson finished 2nd and Brock in 8th.

“This was a good night for us”, claimed Gibson.  “Last year we finished 3rd in the opener.  We grabbed the hole shot and three top 2’s tonight and 4 top 10’s.  Thats big and Im sure Saturday will be exciting as well.”
